Which is worse Believing in the wrong thing (ie atheism, christianity, islam) or having no tolerance

which is worse? Believing in the wrong thing (ie atheism, christianity, islam) or having no tolerance at all for other beliefs?

You are a child of the universe, no less than the stars in the sky. You have a right to be here, whether it is clear to you or not the universe is unfolding as it should. If we choose to judge others for their beliefs then we hurts ourselves. Take a walk and listen, God speaks all languages, had many names and you know what? In these dark days of world-wide fighting and religious bigotry it is hard to say "I believe" you don't have to; God in His many forms is Love, love one another as I have loved you. The hardest thing to do is to love those who do not love us. Your heart knows the love of God who ever you think the Creator is.

and you say people believe in the "wrong thing" because you happen to believe in the "right thing"?
That's easy, having no tolerance at all.
Having no tolerance at all for other beliefs. I believe most wars in recorded history were brought about by intolerance to other beliefs.

I think there's a lot of hyprocrisy here because most beliefs would espouse peace and harmony, even among societies that are foreign to them. And yet, fanatics who claim to be the most devout among followers would be the ones that are most belligerent towards societies that are foreign to them.
how do you define the "wrong thing"?

no tolerance hands down
Lack of tolerance is INFINITELY worse.
does it really matter what you believe in? if you are a good person..... whatever god there may be should take care of you in your afterlife - weather its the god you believe may be or the actual.
Believing in the wrong thing. Some things should not be tolerated, though tolerance is ok generally just as long the thing being tolerated is not destructive to freedom.
To each their own . . . but having no tolerance for other peoples' beliefs is a sign of ignorance. It shows an insecure person- insecure in their own faith and in themselves. Each person has the right to believe whatever they believe, as long as they don't impose their point of view on others, and as long as they aren't hurting anyone. As for 'wrong' beliefs, I'm just not sure there is such a thing because each person sees things differently. It's intolerant to say their beliefs are wrong. Just my two cents worth. :)
Atheists do not believe in gods. They do not "believe in the wrong thing". Intolerant people damage whatever they believe in.
I am very intolerant of intolerance.
The worst thing is to miss our on a real relationship with the living God!
As you can see, people are so tolerant that they can't imagine anything being wrong. People are so tolerant that they withhold all value judgments - that is, so long as you don't make a value judgment yourself. Everyone else can have an opinion but you.

Don't you love the "tolerance over everything" crowd?

I think that people believe in particular things because those things fill particular needs in their lives. I don't judge these as being wrong so long as they don't involve infringing upon the free moral agency of others. Even certain dominance based cults meet the needs of those who genuinely want to be dominated.

And if you don't think that some people want to be dominated, check the personals out on craigslist sometime.

As you can probably tell, I have problems with the question (and the types of answers it attracts) all the way around. It's an interesting question, though, just by the variety of responses you got.

Take care,

I get it.

Definitely the intolerance because it encompasses the first belief that anything else is 'wrong' anyway.

Fear creates intolerance which is the root of all evil acts.

There is only one thing to practice :

Love

i.e. affection, kindness, compassion.

Rest is all useless.
the latter...and please be careful while wording the question...it seems to imply that all religions are wrong which isn't what you obviously wanted to say..
Both are bad. Jesus is the way.
having no tolerance at all.
