How do I disable internet access (via IE AND FIREFOX) for users on my PC? I need to know for both browsers!

I am heading off to college soon, and I would like to allow my friends access to my computer, but NOT to my internet. I already have an administrator account, so I'm guessing I need to create a limited access, or guest account, and then how do I disable the internet for those types of accounts? Thanks!

Make them first an administrator account, MUCK up the network settings (give it an wrong static ip address)...then downgrade the account to guest and test if they can change the network settings...most likely not.

do you vista or xp, if you have vista you can use the parental controls to block programs or with xp with can.....im not sure sorry
You can disable the ethernet card everytime you get off the computer but it can be time consuming. There are third party software that will let you disable access to the internet based on user account or account policy. In this case some anti-virus companies offer security suites that can block internet access, which they call "parental control" features. You can try www.Fsecure.com, they offer the parental control feature your looking for and it also blocks or filters internet access based on user profile. The software is called "F-Secure Security Suite 2007. In this case the "guest" account would be considered a user profile. The down fall to this is that it's an expensive software and it will slow down your computer a little bit. Most of these software comes with an anti-virus software and firewall combined together. Do your research before you buy.
